How We Work With Your Composer
At TripleTone, we work seamlessly with your team — whether that means scoring your film from scratch or integrating an existing score that’s already been written and recorded.
If you’re coming to us with a composer already on board, we’ll bring them into our post workflow. We’ll align their cues to picture, clean up timing, smooth transitions, and make sure each musical element plays nicely with dialogue, Foley, and sound design. We’ll request stems — typically broken into sections like strings, percussion, synth, pads, or solo instruments — and use those to mix the score with greater control and clarity in the final surround or stereo mix.
We’re also meticulous about spotting sessions. We’ll walk through the entire film with you and your composer to discuss where the score enters and exits, where silence is golden, and where music needs to lead the emotional arc. All musical cues are aligned to picture timecode and optimized for the environment you’re targeting: theatrical, streaming, festival DCP, or broadcast.
And because we’re a full-service post house, your custom music will sit perfectly within the final mix. No sudden jumps in level, no frequency masking — just a clean, professional, emotionally tuned soundscape from start to finish.

Do I need an original music score?
If you want your film to have a unique emotional voice — yeah, you probably do. Stock tracks are fine in a pinch, but they rarely move people.
Can you work directly with my editor or trailer team?
Absolutely. We’ve done it many times — and we’ll make sure they have what they need: stems, alt mixes, tempo maps, whatever.
Do I own the music when it’s done?

What’s the difference between film music and ad music?
